WHO? At a very early age I experienced vast open spaces, driving trucks, tractors and heavy machinery on my parents’ Iowa farm. In addition, my academic background includes sociological and psychological sciences. So, when I bought a camera on a whim, these indelible experiences informed my budding improvisational social commentary as a street photographer.

Interview with Conway Chung
WHO? My name is Conway Chung. I am an Asian American, born and raised in New York City. I live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan. I picked up photography as a hobby in 2015 by taking photographs of friends and family. In 2018, I met a couple of photographers around the Bryant Park area and observed how they made candid photographs of people on the busy streets. After looking at these photographers’ work on their social media and websites, I became fascinated with the street photography genre.

My first camera was a Russian Zenit SLR which I bought at the age of 12 with my pocket money.
