I have taken street photographs for over thirty years, which now roughly divides as two phases, black and white and then colour. Another division is a conventional approach to street photography set against a liking for abstract. I constantly switch between the two. Recently I have begun writing on photography. So far it is three books: The Street Photographer’s Manual (2014), 100 Great Street Photographs (2017) and Street Photography: A History in 100 Iconic Images (2019). I am probably more certain about the work of other photographers than my own. I prefer to look up, which is how I started.
