WHO?
I’m Vladimir, from Bulgaria, living in the Netherlands. I got into photography about five years ago when I discovered street photography.
WHAT?
Whatever catches my attention in everyday life. It could be anything. Garry Winogrand says that photography is not about the thing photographed, but how that thing looks photographed. So I believe, it’s not about the object or situation itself, but the way it’s done. The most interesting and dramatic situation can lead to a boring picture just as the most boring scene might turn into something interesting.
WHERE?
Mostly in the coastal part of the Hague, where I live. Although It looks very familiar to me, it’s always different and through photography I can keep observing and exploring the area. I don’t think the place matters much. It’s the individual way of looking at the world what counts.
WHEN?
Whenever I can. Sometimes I shoot less, sometimes more, but educating myself about photography and art in general is part of my daily routine. When I cannot photograph, I often exercise by taking pictures in my head.
WHY?
It started as a form of therapy and way to focus my energy in something new and creative. The more I do it, the more reasons I find to keep doing it. Photography is great for self-expression and it’s very enriching. It’s unpredictable, mysterious and magical, just like life itself.
