WHO?
My name is Skyid. I was born and raised in Southwest China, but have been calling the west coast of Canada home since 2010. I manage a photo lab for a pharmacy chain in the metro Vancouver area, and also work as a freelance photographer.

WHAT?
Besides the photo lab job, I print for customers and shoot for clients. I also attempt to photograph those things that are in plain sight but hard to see. I am a big fan of the Instax camera and have been shooting a lot of Instax wide films since 2016.

WHERE?
In British Columbia, Canada, primarily the lower mainland. But I do love road trips and traveling, it depends on where life takes you.

WHEN?
Whenever there is something interesting and I happen to have a camera.

WHY?
Life has been a challenge for me, because of the uncertainty. I’ve been moving around constantly since my teenage years, and have always been seen as an outsider. Photographing in the streets is my fieldwork to study uncertainty. Street photography is not documentary, it’s more like poetry where imagination prevails over reason, metaphor over facts. Uncertainty is the energy flowing in the streets, legitimate and fundamental.
