WHO?
I am Missy Prince.
WHAT?
Traces, evidence, proof of life. I don’t know until I see it. Surprises are hoped for.
WHERE?
Most of my work has come out of the Deep South and West Coast of the United States. I recently moved to Northeast Ohio which is uncharted territory for me. Is it the Midwest? Is it the East Coast? What’s the difference? Does it matter? Let’s find out.
WHEN?
Anytime.
WHY?
Looking is living. I’ve always been an observer and a daydreamer. Photography adds purpose. It’s a catalyst for spontaneity, a time killer, a drug, a passport, a diary, a grounding wire, a conduit to my own heart. Occasionally it’s poetry. I can’t write very well, but I think – i hope – I can take photos well enough to make the mundane feel significant, to turn nothing into something. Working with a project in mind dampens the desire, so I take an anything goes attitude and trust the narrative glue to emerge later.
