WHO?
My name is Dane and I live in Brooklyn, New York. Since moving here from a remote part of Northern California in 2016, I feel like I’ve opened up and become more enamored with the world. I’m grateful for a community of artists and photographers that inspire me.
WHAT?
Mindfulness and communication. After some time I’ve realized that I’m seeking to be a part of something human, sometimes it’s about alienation, but sometimes it’s about reciprocity with strangers. It’s been amazing to translate my curiosities and develop a conduit for communication with silent images.
WHEN?
I’ve been taking pictures since middle school. By taking pictures of my friends I was able to collaborate and develop a sense of self through pictures.
WHERE?
Out of my comfort zone. It is psychically freeing to always push myself further and around every corner, and to never feel boredom when I’m hyper aware of my environment.
WHY?
I’d like to communicate a sense of wonder and humanity. In appreciating scenes around me, I’d like to fill others with the same sort of breath-taking enchantment that you can’t always put words to. Reality is overwhelming and melancholy and magical and absurd all at once, and I want to impart a point of view that is patient, critical, and empathetic.
