WHO?
My name is Kyle Souder. I live in Portland, Oregon where the majority of my photographic endeavors take place.
WHAT?
Photographing the end times from my little corner of the world. I got into photography looking to feel something, and I still haven’t found what I’m looking for. I am typically attracted to photos with people, or ones in which there is the essence of something human, whatever that means.
WHERE?
Anywhere is good for photo making. I work from home so I make photos of my office in various states of disarray. I lived in a trailer in my parents backyard with my wife and our cat for awhile, that was something. My brother lives in the middle of nowhere Washington in the woods and that’s as good a place as any too. The majority of my “intentional” image making has been in downtown Portland. Recently I joined the Portland Grid Project and that has found me venturing out into areas of the city I’ve never been, let alone knew existed in my 32 years here. Additionally, the project has helped break me out of my comfort zone and helped me continue to expand on some of the ways my practice has grown and changed over the last two years.
WHEN?
Same sentiment as where. Any time is as good as any place .
WHY?
It helps me pay attention and stay engaged, it satisfies an urge. If I feel compelled, don’t think; click and move on.
