WHO?
My name is Dante Sisofo. I am 25 years old and from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My passion for photography began in 2016 when I was studying photography in University.
WHAT?
I photograph people. I like to think of the camera as my passport to the world. I don’t make plans to photograph any particular person or thing and allow spontaneity to take over.
WHEN?
I practice street photography everyday. Whether I walk for just a few blocks or a full day of strolling, I always have my camera with me. I mostly photograph during the golden hour in the evening. I like to observe life on the street in its most vibrant state in terms of light and color.
WHERE?
I spent my first years on the streets of Baltimore where I attended school. I also studied in Jerusalem at Hebrew University. Every weekend in my free time, I would take the bus from Jerusalem to Jericho to take pictures. Upon graduating, I returned to Jericho and lived with a Palestinian family. This influenced me to join the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Zambia, Africa. I recently returned from Mumbai, India where I started documenting a new city. My goal is to continue exploring and never hesitate to go somewhere unknown.
WHY?
I enjoy the way photography brings me closer to life. I walk the streets because it fills me with joy. I look forward to seeing my results, but it’s the experience of being present in the world and interacting with people that elevates the process for me. I’m enriched with stories to tell and memories that will last a lifetime.
