WHO?
My name is Bego Amaré, born in 1970, I am living in a village close to Madrid, in a natural environment, very close to the city where I mostly go for street photo shooting and meeting friends. I started photography as a hobby in my 20s, with film and lab development, as many others, then to digital. I took photographs when travelling here and there but it was not till 2016, living in the UK, that I wanted to learn and consume photography more and more (not only of my own). I enrolled in many courses till last year, and it was just after the pandemic lockdown that I wanted to focus on street photography, which I love to do; but I also can explore any other type I feel like doing, why the limits?
WHAT?
Nowadays I am devoted to street photography, I try not to be very invasive so I tend to stop when I see a good light and colors, nice street buildings, or any scene that catches my attention, and I wait for something to happen. Some other times I dare to get closer, I like to put myself in that challenge too. I love walking the streets in Madrid, but also any other city like Barcelona, Valencia, or London. Travelling is my other passion.
WHEN?
I go and shoot anytime, all types of light are good and anything can be a subject for a photography. But, if you ask me what I prefer, I like the light of late afternoon right before the sun disappears, and also when it has been raining, and the sun comes out at the end of the day–that light is magical.
WHERE?
I am the type of photographer that carries the camera all the time; I cannot handle the mobile well for doing photographs so I go with a small mirrorless camera that facilitates being ready anytime. And most of the days you can find me in Madrid, in the most transited areas.
WHY?
It is something that grows inside, an addiction. Most of all, it is because I love the feeling coming with the “click”, freezing the moment, and capturing beauty. Is there anything better than light and beauty? Well, friends are also at that level, and I am very lucky to have very good friends that share this addiction and lots of fun together in the streets. Street photo clubs like El Club de Fotografía Callejera, or A la calle, are great places to share this same passion with others. Even though this is a solitary “sport”, every now and then, being accompanied is really well appreciated.
