WHO?
Born and raised in Lima, Perú. Moved to the United States in 2012 and currently living in New York City. Which I’ve been photographing since 2018.
WHAT?
I’m always looking for scenes that are accompanied by a strong color palette and interesting light, where the subject is just an addition to the picture and where the viewer can submerge.
I would describe my work as attempting to capture a cinematic and dreamlike representation of New York. Moments you recall from memory, or the everyday sidewalk corner that suddenly feels like a movie set. That’s what I love about this city, it gives me endless scenarios to work.
WHEN?
When I started doing street photography, I usually went out around sunset. I was attracted to that kind of light. It was also the only time I could do it most days because of work. So I got used to grabbing my camera later in the afternoon and looking for interesting spots around the city.
Lately I’ve been more attracted to night scenes, the color palette and vibe is completely different. It also forces me to slow down in my shooting process.
WHERE?
All over the city.
WHY?
Because people and places change through time really fast, especially in New York. Documenting and creating an archive of what I see and what I live is the most essential thing I can do for the place I call home.
