WHO?
I am a freelance photographer based in New York City. I was born and raised in Thailand. Three years ago, I left Thailand to study at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Studying at ICP opened my eyes to another level of understanding myself. Now I try my best to achieve my goal as a photographer.
WHAT?
The wallflowers. As I always call myself a wallflower. I see the same thing as myself and record its existence. I take a picture to celebrate the thing that people do not usually pay attention to.
WHERE?
Sometimes it’s on the street where people walking pass by. Sometimes it’s among the crowd where everyone is busy with themselves. The truth is, you can find a wallflower everywhere. In the chaos of the city. In the middle of sleepwalking.
WHEN?
One day, so ordinary that no one will think I would get a shot. I didn’t bring any camera with me on the street. Sadly, I found the subject that I fell for. Thinking of that pile of dumped muffins I haven’t shot still breaks my heart. The point is no one knows when. I have my camera with me most of the time ever since.
WHY?
People take pictures through their consciousness. The thing they think important enough to be recorded comes from instinct. A lot of times, I take a picture because I feel for the scene even when I don’t know why. It takes time to finally realize what is the meaning behind all these pictures. It’s me. It’s my interest, my experience, my inner self. Photography helps me describe who I am, what I’m doing on this earth and where I belong. When I know that, I know my next chapter.
