WHO?
A London living, Arsenal supporting, introverted extrovert. A recent chess obsessive, and long-term cinephile. Loves to travel.
WHAT?
In 2010 I got into wedding photography, which I do for 6 months of the year in a street/documentary style, and outside of the wedding season I plan my trips away where I focus on my two passions – traveling and street photography. It’s my creative release from the perpetual process of shooting and editing weddings, week in, week out, over the summer months.
WHEN?
I’d love to say all the time, but in all honesty it’s in short bursts, mainly during my trips away. It’s like flicking a switch; I’m completely focused and creatively inspired for the time I’m out there. I usually come back physically and mentally exhausted though, and not wanting to pick up a camera for a while.
WHERE?
Despite London being on my doorstep, I don’t shoot there all that often. For some reason I’m mostly inspired when I’m on my travels, photographing the people and the cultures I encounter along the way. I love how having a camera in my hand has gotten me into situations I never would have had, which has in turn given me some amazing experiences, the kind of moments I became a photographer for.
WHY?
I love telling human stories. I think that’s why I very rarely (if ever) am inspired enough to take a picture without a person in it. Instead I’m mostly drawn to moments that express the human condition in some way, or evoke a feeling, whether that’s something funny, unusual, beautiful, chaotic or enigmatic. The majority of the time I’ll come back with nothing, but what drives me is that I know at some point, out of nowhere, something special will happen.
