WHO?
I was born in Madrid, but I currently live in Washington DC. I was first introduced to photography while watching classic movies as a teenager but I went on to pursue a career in international conflict. I fell in love with photography as an art form in 2010 but my journey with street photography started recently by accident. After a year of waiting for my security clearance for a state department job, I got restless. When a friend asked me to join him in a street photography workshop I didn’t hesitate. I have been hooked ever since.
WHERE?
I shoot mostly in NYC, Washington DC and sometimes Madrid but I basically shoot wherever I am! NYC is my absolute favorite place to photograph. There are so many stories happening at the same time. Washington DC is a different animal in terms of street photography but I’ve learned to enjoy it and have found interesting places to shoot…
WHEN?
Whenever I can, and usually in the later hours of daylight if I can swing it. Currently, I don’t have as much time as I would like but I take a camera with me wherever I go. There is always an opportunity for a great picture just around the corner. I like going to NYC because I can just be fully devoted to shooting. No distractions except for those on the street…
WHAT?
I enjoy capturing the coincidental, the unexpected, the bizarre, and the surreal whenever I can. I also like to use light and shadows to create confusion about the urban space and to highlight the human drama in the context of so much energy and movement. I love how light can turn ordinary situations into something extraordinary and unique.
WHY?
I’m fascinated by the limitless options, the creative freedom, and the powerful storytelling of street photography. I love the chase, the challenge, the anticipation, the community. This is my craft and I feel passionate about every aspect of street photography.
